![]() The intent of the Division Scholar Program is to foster increased interest in the study of, and specialization in, urban design and historic preservation, and the interrelationship between these two areas of planning at the advanced undergraduate and graduate levels. The Urban Design and Preservation Division Student Scholar Program promotes interest and career development for emerging professionals in urban planning, urban design, and historic preservation by providing an opportunity to network with senior leadership professionals and contribute to Division outreach and research initiatives. The Agency, in collaboration and input from local stakeholders and government leaders, develops three-dimension visual simulations of the participating community's town center under current zoning as well as additional, community-chosen scenarios potentially including small, medium, and large - scale smart growth, low growth, strip development, etc.ĭuties may include but are not limited to: leading urban design studies and plans developing CAD and illustrative community plans undertaking 3D modeling and massing studies creating architectural and urban design renderings maintaining a working knowledge of standard plans, codes, materials, and processes necessary to accomplish work drafting planning documents and presenting at public meetings. Interns will particularly work on the APA's Envisions Adirondacks initiative where the Agency works with communities to develop visual representations of themselves under different planning/zoning scenarios. Both of these initiatives involve significant public and local government outreach and interaction. These initiatives serve to assist the Adirondack Park's 101 municipalities in developing economic and physical visions for themselves and identifying paths to achieve those visions. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of the Special Assistant, Economic Affairs on community projects related to the Agency's Hamlet Development and Envision Adirondacks programs. ![]()
